SOCIAL STUDIES DEPARTMENT MISSION

Ø      To instruct students in the principles of democracy which fosters good citizenship, appropriate character, and moral perpetuity.

Ø      Enhance  student learning by relating past events to the present as they envision preparing for the future.

Ø      Promote an enriching curriculum that focuses on academic and learning strategies, cultural diversity and tolerance.

Ø      Infusion of technology and school to work skills.

Ø      Develop motivation for learning, and an environment that promotes excellence in the social studies.

Ø      Explore the six components of social studies using the Competency Based Curriculum and the Sunshine State Standards.

Ø      Develop content reading skills that will lead to success on the Florida Comprehensive Achievement Test.
